Brittany is the creator and co-founder of The BLACK Spot Co. She is an educator, writer, and coach originally from Philly (Philadelphia, PA USA), with roots in North Carolina, and currently resides in Rwanda. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies and Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Brittany began her contribution work as the oldest daughter, but began to hone her practice of contribution teaching middle and high school English Language-Arts. After several years of serving her “lil cuzzins” in the schoolhouse, she discovered that her impact stretched far beyond the exhaustion and burnout of a classroom. She is a risk-taking leader and rigor-driven educator answering the call of her ancestral assignment as the first in her bloodline to return to Africa! Brittany is purposeful and methodical in closing culture gaps between Black people living in Africa and those living across its Diaspora. As a returned descendant reversing generational curses, she empowers all of her cuzzins to master their own ancestral assignments by supporting them in the creation of their most joyful, connected, and loving experiences of this lifetime! Her work serves to rebrand and recirculate Africa’s cultural wealth, to ultimately establish a global Black economic powerhouse- The BLACK Spot.

Nyamah is the co-founder of The BLACK Spot, creative DIY artist, and the ultimate BIG Cuzzin! She is a first-generation American, born from Liberia West Africa, and raised in Philadelphia, PA USA. She is an integral link in the bridge building between Africans and African-Americans. The traditions and culture of her Liberian household, right in the heart of West Philly, have informed her world view and conditioned her to artfully navigate the cultural immersion integral to the unification of Africa and its Diaspora. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology and an M.B.A. with concentrated expertise in Human Resource Management. She aims to enlighten the global Black community by sharing her own experiences of cultural exposure, growing up African in America. Nyamah’s core values include the power of intention and the influence of conscientious consumption in all aspects of life, as a transference of positive energy. Mental health counseling, conflict resolution, and youth programming are pillars of her contribution to the world. Her intention is to make The BLACK Spot a direct source for the undoing of destructive socializations (negative programming) plaguing the Black community. She strives to live a life of carefree happiness and abundance.

We met February 2021 at the hammocks in a waterpark (Xel-Ha) in Mexico. Both there in celebration of our birthdays, (we’re both Aquarians) we spotted one another as the other Black girl in a sea of other tourists and began to connect on being from Philly.
After exchanging information, we actually kept in touch and had lunch (tacos) once we got back home to Philly. We talked about our dream of creating global BLACK unity and collaboration, hence the birth of The BLACK Spot.
Within six months of meeting, we drafted a vision and began to strategize on how to bring our vision to fruition. We were now officially co-founders! We met with a strategic coach in Atlanta (those Covid-19 Frontier flights was a good jawn lol) and narrowed down our WHO— our cuzzins (members).
We’ve always known our WHY — to bring abundant prosperity to the global majority. As we continued to adapt and realign, we found our HOW— returning indigenous African languages and ancestral cultures to Africa’s Diaspora.
By the following February, one year later, we were embarking on a new journey to Senegal West Africa for our solar return. We fell in love with the Wolof (/woʊlɒf/ ولوفل) language because the Black People whom we met there insisted on not only welcoming us home in Wolof, as opposed to English or French, but were intentional to make us aware of this difference in communication as we were family.
From this discovery, we chose to build this social impact enterprise of collaborators across all industries, all borders, and all considerations. It is our joy and our duty to return our Ancestral African languages, cuisines, and cultures to our cuzzins in the United States and across the Diaspora.
We create pathways for all of our cuzzins to connect, innovate, and transform. We unite Black People all over the world. Join us and some of our cuzzins from across the water (who we’ve met on our home-goings) as we reclaim our Ancestors’ tongue, foods, and traditions. The rest will be history….

By 2034, The BLACK Spot Co. LLC will return and establish fluency in four ancestral African languages from all corners of the continent, for 25,000 or more people of the global majority.
Beginning with Twi, and Kiswahili, we will execute this vision in four phases:
Phase 1: Take as many Cuzzins who are ready and willing, home.
Phase 2: Build and operate a technology that teaches African languages, and houses a global Black business directory.
Phase 3: Acquire capital for our first brick-and-mortar, including renovations, up-front overhead operations, maintenance costs, etc.
Phase 4: Please our ancestors with our 25,000+ Cuzzins African Language fluency.

A theory of change is a spoken or written representation of why a particular way of working will be useful and effective, showing how change happens in the short, medium and long term to achieve the intended impact.
We believe our collective ancestral assignment is simply put — the co-collaboration of a world where culturally immersive experiences powered by cross-industry innovation reconfigures the card deck of the past, and transforms the current world order so that exploited communities live in harmony with nature, just like our Ancestors.
The following four values which TBS is founded upon, serve as a guide in our reclamation work.
1 — Ancestral Assignment.
Through the return of indigenous language, and the recirculation of ancestral cuisines, cultures, rituals, traditions, music and dance we create loving, healing ubuntu across all borders and all strata of oppression.
2 — Each One Teach One.
We offer a range of global initiatives that empower our cuzzins to stay in connected collaboration including skills bartering and apprenticeship, mentorship and coaching, international gatherings, spiritual and therapeutic practices, and other resources to generate economic growth that stabilizes our communities.
3 — Joyful & Pleasureful Community.
Our TBS culturally immersive experiences empower our cuzzins to build collective cultural wealth by fostering joy, pleasure, and pride in African communities worldwide. Simultaneously, we share cross-industry knowledge, and practices that inform and support a new global narrative of Africa. We intend to shift the commodification of blaxpat/returnee experiences (packaged as all-inclusive tourism), and aim to always connect and employ Black/African businesses, and creatives.
4 — Sankofa.
We always go back and fetch it. We believe that indigenous resistance, reparation, and repatriation are wanted and needed in the earth and it is our collective responsibility to contribute always, in all ways.
Africa and its Diaspora are the past, present, and future!
Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that our standard of excellence, which we acknowledge have been socialized under western ideologies, never overtakes our love for our people.
So pull up cuzzin, we got work to do and enjoyment to have!
-
Our mission is to establish and sustain a global community where our cuzzins experience abundant love, collective responsibility, and joyful collaboration through language learning and authentic culturally immersive exploration.
Our objectives are...
To unite the people of Africa and its Diaspora.
Utilize the ingenuity of the global majority, through authentic cultural exchange.
Create sustainable economic advancement for the African continent.
